Designed with the small/new business owner in mind, this workshop is a great opportunity for you to step back and take a fresh look at your own business, as well as connecting with other likeminded business owners. Over the course of the day, Emily will be sharing her business experience, taking you through the history of her brand, explaining who she is, what she’s done, how she did it and what mistakes she made along the way. She will also be talking about her recent trip to India, sourcing block-printed fabrics. There will also be a useful session on marketing and brand growth/development with Emily’s marketing guru, Henri Copeland. Guests will have the chance to talk about their own businesses and any problems they face, as well as indulging in a Q&A session with Emily & Henri at the end of the day.
Who we are:
After graduating from Bristol University, Emily moved to London and spent 3 years as a designer at Brora. She was always determined to start her own brand with her own designs however, and in 2007 she moved back to Bristol and set up Emily Bond. The business has evolved from selling a few fabrics from a small shop in Tetbury to having a strong online presence, and selling through some major retailers, including John Lewis. The business has gone from strength to strength, and encountered a few hurdles along the way. Emily has truly experienced the highs and lows of running a business and she has plenty of stories and advice to share and is happy to answer any questions you may have.
Henri and Emily worked together at Brora, from 2005-2007, where Henri was E-commerce Manager. After leaving Brora, Henri returned to Cornwall and continued her career in e-commerce and marketing. She worked for several years as Marketing Manager & Director at Frugi (organic children’s clothes), and Cornish Sea Salt (food brand) before setting up in freelance marketing in 2014. Since then she has brought a wealth of experience to a range of brands, including Emily Bond (of course!), Rocket Gardens, Nancarrow Farm and several others. Henri has a refreshingly no-nonsense approach to marketing and tips that will help you to focus your marketing energy where it is most effective.
